Essilor Portugal belongs to the EssilorLuxottica Group, which resulted from the merger of the French company Essilor with the Italian group Luxottica in 2018. With more than 400 employees in Portugal, Essilor Portugal produces and distributes ophthalmic lenses and is the market leader with recognised brands such as Varilux, Crizal, Transitions and Eyezen, exporting a large part of its production to other European markets.

Essilor Portugal has installed a Self-Consumption Production Unit (UPAC) at the Industrial Production Unit in Rio de Mouro, Sintra, with the aim of decarbonising its operations and reducing its energy bill.
